New Folk Singer Website

A few weeks ago, I blogged about me building a couple of new sites. One of these is on hold for a short time, but the other one officially launched today.

Anne Winter is a folk singer appearing in a range of locations across southern England, and her website is now available for viewing. The content that will be most frequently updated will be Anne Winter's Blog, where you can catch up with the latest goings on in her life.

There is still some more features that I would like to add to the site at some stage soon, I would like to add some music and video, but first off, we need to come up with some imagery to use effectively around the site.

Once it is finished I will add a new page about www.anne-winter.co.uk into the websites area of www.peterhandley.com!

Will keep the blogosphere up to date as these developments are completed.

Beginning work on 2 new sites

Today I have just started working on 2 new websites. They are both being made for the people I live with, the first for my lovely girlfriend and also one for her mother Anne.

Michelle is a budding artist/graphic designer/illustrator who needs a platform to display all this work online. I anticipate a clean design where the art itself does the talking and have knocked up a couple of designs to run by her when she gets back from work. We'll see, she has strong opinions on design so I may have to make some changes to better fit to the requirements.

Anne is a folk singer and needs a platform to expose her music to the wider world. Currently she is singing in the south's local circuit, with some bigger performances such Cecil Sharp House really catching the eye.

I shouldn't take too long to do, I live with both of them so will likely get no peace!

New Page on the site

I've just added a new page (well yesterday, but recently!) about some of the work that is required in my main day to day job as a search engine marketer.

Now while this website is not overly concerned with this aspect of my work, as I do not do freelance search engine marketing, it is important that potential web design clients are aware that I can create websites that are well optimised for the phrases that have potential to drive a website traffic and hopefully, ultimately business.

I'm working on some new imagery to use on the website as well as some interactive features like quizzes (which are taking me much longer to complete than I had anticipated).

I am also going to be producing a new website for a local folk singer. Watch the websites area of my site or announcements here/on the site home page for more developments and news as this progresses.

Best go get on with all of this then......

New CV to fit in with newer website design

Its been a few weeks since there has been much activity on www.peterhandley.com.

I've been busy not doing a great deal, been househunting a little bit and scoping out getting a mortgage. Scary stuff.

Anyway, I realised that my CV's that I am pushing from everywhere in my site were still designed in the style of my old site from when I had graduated from Portsmouth University. My design has improved since doing it because I liked it, rather than having to do it, and it hasnt been updated since I started working for Vertical Leap.

It's not like I'm looking for a new Search Engine Optimisation job or anything at the moment, far from it, I'm looking to buy a house with my girlfriend in Portsmouth in the coming months to be closer to our work places and not have to travel so long every day of the week.

Not that I don't like Hayling Island or anything, just its time for us to move on.

You can view my CV in pdf format, or you can view my CV in a word document!

It shouldn't be so long until I blog again this time, I'm looking to add some new things to the website today as I am playing around with AJAX and MYSQL. I'll put up this stuff once its finished.

Finished Contact Forms and New Pages

I have now finished adding a contact form to most of the pages of my site, definitely all of the ones that I feel need it for the time being.

I have also over the last week added 3 new pages to my website, a new page about my affordable web site design services, a new page about my UK Hampshire Web Design services, tips on how to design a website as well as much more information about the Portsmouth University Course that I graduated in.

I've been adding this content to improve the search engine rankings results for my website on a number of terms that I think could deliver traffic and ultimately business to my website.

While I am not pressed to have to be designing websites on a regular basis, I really enjoy making them and am always on the look out for new projects that I can work with interesting people on.

Keep watching this space to find out more about the projects that I have been working on.

Speak to you soon Internet........

Site Redesign

I just finished redesigning the website, and I'm quite happy with it.

I even tried it out on my mobile phone and it works on that too, although I may have to look at doing some CSS for mobile device users.

Going to be adding some contact forms to make it easier to get in touch next, when time permits.

Au Revoir

Pete

My first real own blog

Hello Internet,

This is my first real own blog, so I will begin will begin with an introduction, as all good stories have one of those.

My name is Peter Handley, and I am 24 years old. I work for a company called Vertical Leap, and work as whats called a Campaign Delivery Manager. Vertical Leap are a Search Engine Optimisation company based in Portsmouth, but with customers all over the country and indeed the world. I oversee a number of different websites Internet marketing, which involves me working to get them ranked better in search engines for particular words, driving more traffic to their website, and ultimately increasing the exposure and money making potential of the businesses that use our service.

It can be a challenging job, but its also something where I learn some new trick, or find some new tool with an interesting or fun feature. I don't think its what I envisaged doing a year ago while I was finishing my dissertation at Portsmouth University, but I wouldn't change it either.

I studied Entertainment Technology at Portsmouth University, which was a great broad introduction to many different forms of media, where I particularly concentrated on Internet Technologies and Music. I like music, but am not a producer. I did however write my dissertation on whether or not Parental Advisory stickers on CD's constituted censorship. I went in thinking heavily that they did, but came out with a confused opinion, as certainly some people need protecting who are vulnerable and susceptible, but restricting access only makes this more desirable to certain individuals. Anyway I digress.....

I mainly studied Internet Technologies, and having a firm foundation in HTML and CSS has certainly helped in my new job. I launched http://www.peterhandley.com/ primarily as a platform for the websites that I designed whilst at university, but also as an advert for anyone who stumbles across my site when looking for a web designer. I really enjoy creating a website, and happily do this is in my free time if the project is right for me.

If you want a website designed, simply email info@peterhandley.com and I can arrange a quote!
